We were sorry to hear the news that our former colleague and Safety Group 497 and 491 Group Manager Mr. Richard H. Danzig passed away at the age of 78. Richard formerly worked as the Director of the Red Cross in Dutchess County and then for the A.W. Lawrence Group in Schenectady, NY where he started managing the NYS Public Entities Safety Group 497 and NYS School Safety Group 491 programs. Through multiple company sales and transitions including Professional Underwriters and Glatfelter Insurance Group, Richard stayed on as the workers' compensation group manager until his retirement from Glatfelter in 2015.
Richard was a well respected and knowledgeable contributor to the New York State insurance community. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran, and a longtime Capital Region resident who gave generously to charities including Tanglewood and PBS. Richard passed away on Wednesday morning, October 26, 2022 at Eddy Village Green, Cohoes where he had been residing.
Services will take place at the convenience of his family on Friday, November 4th, 2022, at the Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
